Ecological Integrity

A terms of reference is currently being prepared for the Ecological Integrity Working Group.

Principles and Guidelines For Designing Northern Ecological Areas

This new collaborative project is sponsored by the Canadian Council on Ecological Areas and several partners, including the University of Guelph, the Yukon and Northwest Territory governments, and others.

This project aims to translate and apply conservation science against current needs and practices to advance the design and establishment of terrestrial northern protected areas and networks. The model network will be designed for various ecologically defined areas of the north, as a “coarse-filter” contribution to protected areas and land-use planning.

For more information on this project, contact: Bas Oosenbrug, CCEA - Northwest Territories, (867) 873-7760, John Meikle, CCEA - Yukon, (867) 667-3538, or Tom Beechey (519) 658-6086, .
